Get started with ArchFoundry
Overview
ArchFoundry is where you design AWS infrastructure, see what it costs before it exists, and deploy it into your own AWS account. This guide creates your account and walks through the Get started checklist that every new workspace shows, one step at a time.
Prerequisites
- An email address, or a Google or GitHub account to sign up with.
- Nothing else for the first step. Connecting AWS, a repository or a coding agent comes later, and each has its own guide.
Steps
- Go to app.archfoundry.ai/signup.
- Click Sign up with Google or Sign up with GitHub, or fill in Full name, Work email, Company or team and Password (at least 12 characters).
- Tick the box to agree to the terms of service and privacy policy, then click Create account.
- If you signed up with an email address, open the confirmation email and click its link. The page says Your email is confirmed. Click Log in.
- The first time you sign in, a short setup opens: confirm your details, answer a few questions, and connect GitHub if you want to. Answer them or click Skip setup. See Set up your account and profile.
- You land in your workspace. The Get started checklist lists five steps, and the first one not done yet has a filled button.
- Design something. Click Open the canvas and describe your app to Archie, or start from a template. See Design your first architecture with Archie.
- Connect your AWS account. Click Connect AWS. Archie can then read what already runs there. See Connect your AWS account.
- Connect a repository. Click Connect a repository so Archie can design from your code and review pull requests. See Connect a GitHub or GitLab repository.
- Connect a coding agent. Click Create an agent token to let Claude Code or Cursor ask for infrastructure. See Connect Claude.
- Invite a teammate. Click Invite someone. See Invite your team.
To put the checklist away before you finish it, click Hide. It stays hidden in this browser only.
Example
The workspace sidebar has one section for each part of ArchFoundry:
Overview What you have, what it costs, and what needs attention.
Architectures Every diagram you have saved, and where each one came from.
Cost What you were billed, and what your drawings would cost.
Testing Static checks over your diagrams, security groups and price book.
Deployments Every stack you have running, what it costs, and how to remove it.
Cloud accounts Your AWS accounts.
Repositories GitHub or GitLab repositories Archie reads and reviews.
Coding agents Tokens that let Claude Code or Cursor ask for infrastructure.
Activity What changed in this workspace, newest first.
Settings Appearance, Archie, members, data sharing and your account. The canvas, where you draw and deploy, opens from Open the canvas. On the canvas, Workspace at the top left takes you back.
Verify it worked
- Each step you finish gets a tick, because ArchFoundry checks it on the server. For example, the AWS step ticks once a connection exists, and the team step ticks once a second member joins or an invite is waiting.
- When all five are ticked, the checklist goes away by itself.
Troubleshooting
Please accept the terms to continue. Tick the terms box on the sign-up form, then click Create account again.
Use at least 12 characters. Passwords need 12 characters or more.
That link didn't work. A confirmation link expires and works once. On that page, enter your email and click Send confirmation link for a new one.
You did not get a confirmation email. Check your spam folder, then use Send a new link on the log in page, or continue with Google or GitHub instead.
A step stays unticked after you did it. A step is ticked only on evidence from the server. Reload the page. If you connected something while signed out, sign in and connect it again.
