Plans and billing
Overview
Every organization is on one of three plans: Free, Pro at $20 a month or Enterprise at $120 a month. One plan covers the whole organization, however many people are in it. The plans differ in how much of Archie's AI usage each month includes, and Free keeps one saved architecture at a time. Everything else ArchFoundry does is on every plan.
When a plan's Archie usage for the month is used up, Archie stops until it comes back: next month on Free, and when the plan renews on Pro and Enterprise. On Pro and Enterprise, an owner or admin can buy $10 of extra Archie usage for $10.61 to keep going before then. Nothing is charged on top of the plan's price unless an owner or admin buys extra usage. Your AWS resources are billed by AWS, to your AWS account, separately from ArchFoundry.
Prerequisites
- An ArchFoundry account. Every new organization starts on Free.
- The owner or admin role to change the plan or the card. Other members can see the plan, but not change it.
- A card, for Pro or Enterprise. Payment happens on Stripe's page, and ArchFoundry never sees the card.
Steps
- Open Settings from the left-hand menu, and choose the Billing tab.
- Read the plan and this month's Archie usage at the top.
- To upgrade, click Upgrade to Pro, $20 a month or Upgrade to Enterprise, $120 a month. Stripe's checkout page opens.
- Pay on Stripe's page. You come back to Billing, which says Waiting for Stripe to confirm the plan… until Stripe confirms it, then that the plan is active.
- To switch between Pro and Enterprise, change the card or cancel, click Manage billing. Stripe's billing page opens.
- To buy more Archie on Pro or Enterprise, click Buy $10 of Archie and pay $10.61 on Stripe's page. The extra 61 cents covers the card fee. You come back to Billing, which says Waiting for Stripe to confirm the payment…, then Added $10 of Archie.
Extra usage starts when the month's included usage runs out, and what is left carries over. On Free it is kept but not used.
Every member sees a warning above the canvas and the workspace once Archie reaches 80% of the month's usage, counting any extra usage bought, for example Archie is at 80% of this month's usage. At 100% it stops until November 9. It updates after each message to Archie on the canvas. On Pro and Enterprise, an owner or admin can click Buy $10 of Archie in that warning, or under Archie's message in the chat when it stops. After paying from the canvas, you come back to it, and Archie says Added $10 of Archie. You can ask again. From the workspace, you come back to Settings, Billing. On Free, the warning has Upgrade instead.
Example
What each plan includes, as the pricing page states it:
Free $0 a month Includes $1 of Archie usage a month. One saved architecture at a time.
Pro $20 a month Includes $10 of Archie usage a month, about 5 to 20 architectures.
Enterprise $120 a month Includes $60 of Archie usage a month, about 30 to 120 architectures.Archie's usage is the AI tokens it spends on your organization's requests, priced at each model's current rates. Turns that run on your organization's own Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter key are billed by that provider and do not count. Plans, deploys and load tests are not usage.
Expected result: on Pro, a month with $3.10 of Archie usage shows $3.10 of the $10 of Archie usage included, about 5 to 20 architectures., under the line that says when the plan renews. Once it reaches $10, Billing says, for example, This month's $10 of Archie on Pro is used up. It comes back on November 9.
With $10 of extra usage bought, Archie keeps going after the included $10. At $13.00 used, Billing shows The $10 included this month is used up. and Extra Archie usage: $7.00 left., and the $7.00 carries over to next month.
Verify it worked
- Billing names the plan, for example Pro: $20 a month for the whole organization., and the date it renews.
- On Free, Billing counts your saved architectures, for example Architectures: 1 of 1 saved on Free.
- After an upgrade, New architecture opens a fresh canvas again, and every architecture can be edited.
- After buying more Archie, Billing says Added $10 of Archie., and the balance grows by $10, for example Extra Archie usage: $10.00 left.
Troubleshooting
Archie is at 80% of this month's usage. This is a warning; Archie still answers. It stops at 100%, on the date shown. An owner or admin can buy more or upgrade now, from the warning or Settings, Billing. Other members read An owner or admin can add more in Settings, under Billing.
This month's $1 of Archie on the Free plan is used up. Archie comes back on the date shown. An owner or admin can upgrade, or add your organization's own AI key under Settings, Archie. Everything else keeps working.
This organization has used up this month's Archie on Pro. Pro and Enterprise stop at their included usage, plus any extra usage bought, and Archie answers again on the day the plan renews. To keep going before then, an owner or admin can click Buy $10 of Archie under Settings, Billing, or add your organization's own AI key under Settings, Archie. Plans, deploys and everything else keep working.
Stripe has not confirmed the payment yet. If you paid, reload this page in a minute. Stripe takes a moment to tell ArchFoundry. The $10 shows once Stripe confirms it, and it is added once, however many times you open the page.
This organization is no longer on Pro or Enterprise. Reload the page to see its plan. The plan changed after the page opened, for example it was canceled. Free cannot buy extra usage; upgrade to Pro or Enterprise first.
Buying more Archie is not available yet. Nothing was charged. Try again later. Extra usage cannot be bought at the moment. Until it can, your organization's own AI key under Settings, Archie keeps Archie going.
Free keeps one saved architecture, and this organization has it. Free keeps one at a time. Delete it from Architectures, or upgrade, to save another. The work on the canvas is not lost while this shows, but it is not saved.
Read-only on Free. Free keeps one editable architecture. Your organization has more than one, from a plan that ended or from before plans existed. Nothing was deleted. The one edited most recently stays editable. Upgrade, or delete the others, to edit the rest. Archie can still answer questions about a read-only architecture, but it does not redraw it.
The last payment did not go through. Stripe tries the card again. An owner or admin updates it in Manage billing.
Only an owner or admin of your organization can change the plan or billing. Ask one of them to upgrade or to change the card.
Checkout was closed before paying. Nothing was charged. You left Stripe's page before paying. Click the upgrade or Buy $10 of Archie button again when you are ready.
